MISA supports men in difficult life situations, we walk with them to find a way ahead, even when the future seems bleak, and overwhelming. We invite men of different backgrounds, ages, and situations to access our services in order to regain lost control, and build new direction into their lives.
Whilst we provide proactive male-focused support services that strengthen relationships and hope for men, MISA services are occasionally used by women and children and we strive to ensure they feel welcome and valued. Our services place the client at the centre of decision making processes which are based in theory while being grounded, compassionate, respectful and authentic.
In situations where men are facing a major life challenge, counselling can address conflict, and relationships issues, or assist men to take a “deeper dive” into the problem. Counselling will be focused on your needs, however it’s an also an opportunity to reflect on your role, and what’s working or not working in relationships at home, work and with friends. The benefits of counselling include:
- better understanding of yourself
- your recurring emotions and reactions
- your personal resources
- the development of relationship skills
Workshop: Transformation 24/7
Transformation 24/7 is a 12-week session-based workshop for the development of skills, self -awareness, and knowledge. It can be beneficial for managing conflict and reducing “outbursts” but shouldn’t be seen as a “one off” solution for domestic violence. Benefits can include:
- better decision making and problem solving
- improved relationships with others
- more compassion for others and yourself
- better self – awareness
- and a better relationship with yourself
MISA provides parenting programs, including 2 specific programs that are sometimes agency requested. Triple P parenting program is designed to assist parents to improve their parenting skills and build positive relationships with their children. The program gives you the skills to:
- encourage the behaviour you like to see from your child
- deal positively and consistently with problem behaviour
