Providing specialised counselling and support services to our community
Men's Information and Support Association (MISA) is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides a range of specialised counselling and support services as well as information and referral services, for all men, women, families, and children in the community.
While specialising in working respectfully with men in the community, MISA also works with women, families, and children.
MISAs' services provide positive support to men and their families to enable them to meet life changes that may be impacting on their quality of life and mental health.
Since its inception in 1997 MISA has provided a safe and supportive environment where men can express themselves with confidence and security.
Counsellors undertake individual, relationship, and family counselling and group courses in parenting and anger management. MISA has also provided referrals to service providers for men in need of help with issues such as accommodation, family court and other legal matters, relationship problems, gambling and so on.
MISA is partially funded by the Department of Social Services Family and Relationships Services as part of the department’s Stronger Outcomes for Families Initiative. The initiative offers a range of services and programs to support families and children are safe and well, families and children are strong and resilient, and children are supported in their first 1000 days to be ready to learn.
