Rangajeeva Wimalasena has more than 20 years of extensive experience in the justice sector.
He has served as a prosecutor, Magistrate, District Court Judge and Judge of the High Court in two commonwealth jurisdictions in the Asia Pacific region. He possesses hands-on expertise in dealing with domestic and family violence disputes and managing victims of domestic violence and sexual offences. He is a strong advocate for the rights of a range of socially marginalized groups. He is passionate in introducing innovation and technology to organizations on top of his legal background. He serves a number of not for profit and charity organizations in Australia on pro bono basis. He is a proactive board member who supports MISA with his wide range of expertise in delivering sustainable results and propelling the organization to achieve its goals. He steers matters relating to resources library and technology in MISA’s operational plan for 2020-2021, in addition to assisting Men’s Intervention Project and marketing strategies.
Rangajeeva is accredited as a mediator by the Singapore and Fiji mediation centers. He holds a Master of Laws in international human rights, women’s rights and children’s rights from the University of Colombo and a bachelor’s degree in Law. His educational background also includes a Diploma in Forensic Medicine from University of Colombo and a Graduate Certificate in Policy and Governance from Queensland University of Technology.
